Partnership with Graz
Pécs became a Graz partner city in 1989.
The friendship between the two cities resulted from the close contact of their respective Nature Friends' Organisations that continued over many years. In 1989, the official partnership agreement between Pécs and Graz was ratified.

Pécs today
Pécs is the fifth-largest city in Hungary and the seat of the Baranya administrative region. Pécs is a bishopric and seat of Pécs University as well as the centre of the Danube Swabians and home to nine autonomously governed ethnic minorities. Pécs was the European Capital of Culture in 2010.
