Twin Towns

After World War II, the idea of city partnerships came about in order to help cities in different countries to better get to know and come to understand each other. The city of Graz participates in 12 city partnerships of this kind. After Austria joined the EU in 1995, Graz has begun organising project-related city partnerships, which have gradually substituted the more traditional and historical form of town twinning.
